Expectations + Guidelines

 
 
 

Here are a few things that may be helpful in understanding the Interior Design process. This list is not part of our Agreement; just high level guidelines to assist you in navigating the design process and help you think of questions you didn’t know to ask.

 

phase 1

  1. After the initial consultation, and a Professional Service and Purchase Agreement is executed, the Design Team will begin creating designs and choosing selections for your new residence. 

  2. We will request a project timeline from your builder so that we can plan our tasks accordingly and ensure that our deliverables are timely.

  3. We are committed to positive and productive relationships because your project is a process, and there will be challenges along the way. We believe teamwork and respect enhance performance and problem solving and we are committed to both.

  4. If you order any selections associated with Phase I of your project through an OZ preferred vendor, we will provide you with updates on order status and delivery.

  5. OZ is here to manage the execution of the designs we create according to the terms within the Professional Service and Purchase Agreement. We do not manage the architect, builder or any sub-contractors.

  6. OZ will likely create 3D-Models so that you can visualize the design concept. OZ will create Working Drawings for the builder to use when building the custom designs we create. The 3D-Models will not always look like the completed Working Drawings. Please refer to the Working Drawings for final design specifics.

  7. We request that the builder be present at our onsite consultations because it is an excellent opportunity to discuss the execution of the designs.

  8. We require 48 hours notice for all meeting requests. We find that a standing weekly or bi-weekly meeting with all necessary team members is beneficial. We will do our best to accommodate “emergency” meetings as needed. 

  9. Our design fee will be paid according to the terms of the executed Agreement, and OZ will inform you when the design fee is due.

phase 2

  1. Phase II consists of furnishing your new residence and filling it with all of the “finishing touches” that make it your home.  We begin discussing Phase II during Phase I.

  2. Phase II feels much like Phase I, except we’re discussing sofas and drapes instead of tile and paint colors. We promise it’s just as much fun! Once Phase II selections have been decided upon, OZ will provide a proposal for your approval that will include pricing. Items will be ordered when the proposal is approved and the requested deposit is paid.

  3. As a full-service interior design firm, we are committed to delivering a complete design to you by offering our innovative design ideas and services, as well as products from our preferred vendors. We invest time and energy forming relationships with our carefully curated vendors so that we can create custom designs tailored to you unique style, budget and way of living in your space. Our product pricing represents approximately a 15%-20% discount from manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing. Because we select, receive, deliver, install and stand behind our products, we may not be the lowest cost option for the individual items and products within the design. We respectfully ask that all clients understand that prices found on the internet, which may be lower for individual items and products, do not correspond to the full service being delivered by OZ.

  4. There may be lead times for items purchased. Custom items may have eight to twelve weeks lead time for production. Lead time will be discussed as the design is being created and products are being selected.

  5. We will install the complete design in one installation/delivery at your home when all items are ready for installation.

  6. Our sources/trade-persons only work through OZ, and unless otherwise specified, clients cannot work directly with them.

  7. We do request that you not be present during the installation at your home. We want you to relax and avoid the creative chaos (fun) that we thrive on – you hired us so you can simply enjoy the result! Plus, it makes the final reveal much more fun!
